STEM/Coding Instructor/Code Sensei

Are you experienced in working with children? Do you enjoy teaching and building problem-solving skills in young engineering minds? Have you mentored youth? This could be the role for you. 

We are looking for STEM/coding instructors (Code Senseis®) to join our team working toward providing a fun and safe learning environment for children. Code Senseis® act as a coach and teach kids how to code and create games. 

Part-time internships are available throughout the year for our year-round afterschool programs. Summer internships starts in late June and ends in late August. While both roles are envisioned as seasonal/part-time, we are open to extending your engagement with us for a full-time role for the right individual.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Oversees the day-to-day coaching, student engagement, and feedback to parents on student’s progress
  • Demonstrate content knowledge and be familiar with Code Ninjas' curriculum
  • Create a positive and safe environment in which students can learn and grow
  • Foster productive and effective working relationships with all students regardless of background or abilities.
  • Be a role model and act as a mentor to children ages 5 and up
  • Open to learning new technologies
  • Clean dojo(s) throughout your shift to ensure cleanliness is kept up to corporate standards
  • Follow opening and closing duties 
  • Report daily to Center Director with respect to day’s activities, efficiency & productivity in dojo
  • Perform other tasks or duties as required or assigned by the Center Director

Qualifications:
  • Must be able to work in-person at the Center’s location
    • For part-time internship: Offers flexible hours with a minimum of 6 hours per week commitment. Our student center hours are M-F 3pm-7pm, and Sat 10am-3pm.
    • For summer internship: Available for 10 weeks. Weekly shifts can be a combination of the following: (a) M-F 830am-1130am, (b) M-F 1230pm-330pm, (c) M-F 330pm-7pm, and (d) Sat 10am-3pm. 
  • Must have high energy, sociable and good with children ages 5 and up
  • Fast learner, ability to pick up coding concepts, and adapt quickly where requirements can change frequently
  • Excellent communication skills and a team-player

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experienced in teaching, mentoring, and/or childcare
  • Experienced working with children ages 5 and up (mentoring, coaching, tutoring, babysitting, etc.)
  • Tech-savvy, passionate about technology, coding and gaming

Compensation: $15.00 - $17.00 per hour
